BS 476-15:Fire Tests on Building Materials and Structures Part 15: Method of Measuring the Rate of Heat Release of Products
BS 476-15 Fire Test to Rate of heat release – Standard Test:
This test method is used to determine the ignitability, heat release rates, mass loss rates, effective heat of combustion, and visible smoke development of materials and products.
BS 476-15 Fire Test to Rate of heat release – Standard Scope:
This International Standard specifies a method for assessing the heat release rate of essentially flat product exposed to controlled levels of radiant heating with or without an external igniter. The rate of heat release is determined by measurement of the oxygen consumption derived from the oxygen concentration and the flow rate in the combustion product stream. The time to ignition (sustained flaming) is also measured in this test. Products with surface irregularities may be tested according to specific requirements.
