Bjorn Thorsen, which has represented Lubrizol Engineered Polymers for several years, is participating in Plastteknik Nordic (Malmö, Sweden) on April 9 and 10 at stand no. G14. For this event, Lubrizol and Bjorn Thorsen will introduce new aliphatic-based TPU technologies for molding and extrusion, which complement the aromatic TPU portfolio. Such technologies include recent innovations in the aliphatic TPU range with excellent color stability upon UV exposure-commercialized under Estane® Engineered Polymers and Pearlthane TPU. In addition, Lubrizol has expanded its previous aliphatic TPU extrusion offering for ballistic glass and protection film, by improving the performance of Pearlthane D91T80 and developing new Pearlthane D91T86 for molded parts. These aliphatic TPU innovations have been designed for automotive, sports and recreation, and electronics applications, such as watchbands, smartphones and headphones, and are a highly suitable material for weatherable electronic devices and wearable products that help monitor the health of the user.
According to Pablo Alegre, Lubrizol Estane EMEAI marketing manager, electronics, "Lubrizol's new aliphatic TPU range is especially designed to meet the most demanding high-tech specifications required by the electronics industry. They are high performance materials with faster processing and good mechanical properties, while providing good haptics, an excellent surface finish and appealing aesthetics."
Sven Rimestad, Bjorn Thorsen's managing director notes "Bjorn Thorsen already distributed Estane Engineered Polymers in Norden countries, as well as Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The new agreement, which expands the TPU product ranges, covered will create efficiencies for both companies by leveraging the strength of Bjorn Thorsen's presence across the region and broadening our offering of TPU specialty technologies."
