ASTM D635:Standard Test Method for Rate of Burning
ASTM D635:Standard Test Method for Rate of Burning
ASTM D635-2006 Standard Test Method for Rate of Burning - Test Standard :
ASTM D635-2006 Standard Test Method for Rate of Burning and/or Extent and Time of Burning of Plastics in a Horizontal Position
ASTM D635-2006 Standard Test Method for Rate of Burning – Test method:
A bar specimen of material to be tested is supported horizontally at one end.The free end is exposed to a specified gas flam for 30s. Time and extent of buring are measured and reported for a material if it burns to the 100mm
mark from the ignited end.
ASTM D635-2006 Standard Test Method for Rate of Burning – Classification:
ASTMD635 Class A: there is no visible sign of combustion after the source is removed.
ASTMD635 Class B: The flame front does no pass the 25mm reference after the source is removed
ASTMD635 Class C: The flame front does pass the 25mm but does not reach the 100mm reference mark.
ASTMD635 Class D: The flame front reaches the 100mm reference mark and the linear burning rate does not exceed 40mm/min for specimens.
