An e-card payment system for use on public transport in Sanmenxia is set to come into effect later in June, after being approved by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) on April 12.

 

The system allows passengers to pay their fares with bankcards using wireless payment technology.

 

The green light comes after the Sanmenxia transportation bureau submitted its blueprints for the system to the central government in 2016.

 

Earlier this year, the Henan government urged all 18 cities in the province to implement the e-card public transport payment system as soon as possible – to provide passengers with greater payment flexibility.

 

So far in Sanmenxia, a new service platform has been implemented and equipment upgraded ready for the arrival of e-card payments.

 

The e-card system is currently being tested on Buses Yingbin Line 1 and Line 19.
